Government of Aruba

Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 to become an independent member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The island has its own constitution and a 21-member elected parliament. It is self-governing in most matters, with the major exceptions being defence and foreign affairs.
