Aruba resort comes out on top

The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino on Palm Beach has been named as the 23rd best resort in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Bahamas region by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.

Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards poll is determined by reader input on hotels, cruises, airlines, travel companies and top cities to visit.

Aruba Music Festival

The 7th Aruba Music Festival will be held at the Aruba Entertainment Centre on October 11 and 12 2008. Acts appearing include Reo Speedwagon (October 10) and Gloria Estefan (October 11). Tickets are available online at TicketWeb.

The Aruba Music Festival has been running since the 1980s. It started life as the Aruba Jazz and Latin Festival but in 2002 was renamed the Aruba Music Festival, and expanded to include a appeal to a more diverse audience.

Washington Redskins cheerleader calendar shoot

The Washington Redskins cheerleader squad will be holding a calendar shoot at the Radisson Hotel on Palm Beach on May 31. Tickets for the event go on sale today in the hotel lobby and are priced at $10 (including one drink). The shoot will run from 8 pm to 9 pm.

Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2008

Two hotels in Aruba featured in Trip Advisor’s 2008 Travellers’ Choice Awards announced earlier this month. The Paradera Park Apartments were ranked 10th in the Top 10 Best Hidden Gems in Latin America/Caribbean and 5th in the Top 10 Best Bargains in Latin America/Caribbean, while the Bucuti Beach Resort came 10th in the Top 10 Best Hotels for Romance in the World and 5th in the Top 10 Best Hotels For Romance in Latin America/Caribbean.

TripAdvisor is the world’s largest online travel community. The Travellers’ Choice Awards were determined by a combination of TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index and traveller ratings.

Aruba Heineken Regatta 2007

Racing at the Aruba Heineken Regatta gets underway today and will continue until November 16. The annual sailing event is now in its 17th year and is the biggest catamaran racing event in the Caribbean. Around 50 boats from Aruba and Europe will be competing. The competition is sponsored by Heineken and the Aruba Tourism Authority.
