New hotels receive planning permission

The Sunrise Rock Development Group has received planning permission from the government to build 3 five-star hotels in Aruba. The Aruba Rock Hotel and Spa will offer 200 rooms and will be situated approximately half a mile from Baby Beach and will also feature a golf course, while the Boca Grande Beach hotel will offer 450 rooms and a casino and will be specifically targeted at high stakes gamblers. The group are also planning a 500-room hotel at Baby Beach itself.


Aruba Hi-Winds 2007

The Aruba Hi-Winds windsurfing competition will be held from June 27 to July 2 2007 at Fisherman’s Huts, Hadicurari Beach. Competitors of all levels from more than 30 different countries are expected to take part in one of the most popular events on the windsurfing calendar.


Aruba Heineken Regatta

Racing at the Aruba Heineken Regatta gets underway today and will continue until November 19. The annual sailing event is now in its 16th year and is the biggest catamaran racing event in the Caribbean. Around 50 boats from Aruba and Europe will be competing. The competition is sponsored by Heineken and the Aruba Tourism Authority.


Beach Tennis Open

The 6th annual International Aruba Beach Tennis Open will take place from November 3 – 5 at the MooMba Beach Bar and Restaurant on Palm Beach. Players of all ages and abilities are invited to compete for prizes with a value of over $1,500.


Radisson Spa Opens

The 13,000 square foot oceanfront Larimar Spa at the Radisson Aruba Resort & Casino is now open. Costing $5.2 million, the spa offers nine separate treatment rooms, a fitness centre and a full-service salon.
